Affordable Mongoose Spin BMX Freestyle Bike dirt bike Highlights
Aug 17th
I bought this as a gift for my 8 yr. old nephew and he absolutly loves it. I had seen a Mongoose bike for sale at Wal Mart for around $60.00, but you could instantly see the quality difference between this one and the cheaper bike. The price, $119.00 with free shipping was an excellant deal.
This is a beautiful bike, my grandson just loves it. It was delivered the next day. We had to take it to a bike shop for assembly but it was well worth it.

I bought this bike new from my local store on sale for $180 dollars. I figured a full suspension, aluminum frame bike with disc brakes for $180 was a deal I couldn’t pass up. I wish I would have.
After taking it home and doing an initial setup on the bike (adjusting suspension droop, brake pad clearances, etc.) I took it out for the first ride. I use the bike primarily as a commuter, but take it to the local trails on the weekend. The bike preforms as expected on the streets, but the rear suspension was a little weak for my liking. The bob while pedaling hard uphill takes away a lot of your power to the ground.
After my first ride, I got the bike home and did a second check on it (mind you, this is still the first day). I am meticulous with cleaning and checking my bikes after every off-road session. I found the rear derailler was loose. I took it off of the bike and found that the bike shop that assembled the bike did not use any lock-tite on the bolt. This is not a problem with the bike, but the bike shop. I decided to check all of the fasteners on the bike…same problem.
I have now had the bike for about 5 months and it is serving me pretty well as a daily commuter. I have found that as long as I do the maintenance on the bike, everything is holding up pretty well. The problems that others have had with deraillers not working and brake rub have not been an issue for me.
So you may be thinking, why did I rate the bike a two? Pretty simple, really. The weight of the bike and quality of the components leave something to be desired. I have had to replace all of the bushings on the rear linkage twice in the six months that I have owned the bike. Since I have only gone off-road with it three times, this is more often than I should have to replace them. The rear seat post has a tendency to slip down slowly no matter how much you tighten the clamp. I replaced the seat post and clamp and now have no problems. The seat that comes with the bike is uncomfortable at best. I changed that to a Sette saddle (not one of the big cushy seats) for a more comfortable ride. The rear wheel hub is weak. If you buy this bike, plan on upgrading that as quickly as possible.
Even though I only paid $180 for this bike, I have now invested well over $300 in maintenance and/or repairs. I would have been better off getting the Cannondale hard tail they had on sale for $350. Oh well, better luck next time.
Well, after a long time of researching various bikes, I bought this one. I couldn’t find another bike that looked as good, or had as many of the same features as this bike, at the same price point. The bike came mainly assembled, took about an hour to assemble fully and adjust everything to my liking. Took it for a ride and everything works perfectly.
The bike looks like I spent a helluva lot more than I did too. Only thing is the seat is a bit uncomfortable, I’ll be replacing it soon, but you can say that about most bikes.

Great bike overall, but the seat height is a few inches too high for me. I have it set as low as it can go, but my feet still “dangle in the air” when I try to stop. I had it assembled at a bike shop, so I’m pretty certain I’m not overlooking something…
I’m 5′9″ with short legs, and I don’t advise this bike unless you have average-long legs.
Hope that helps.
I wanted a nice dureable bike just to run local chores but once I started riding this bike I found myself taking longer and longer rides. I did the 42 mile NYC bike tour on this bike. Aluminum frame makes it light weight for this type of bike. The wheels/spokes give it a distinct look. The seat could have been softer, but other than that it’s a great ride. I purchased the bike in February and up to this point it has been completely trouble free. I’m glad I didn’t pay the extra $150 for the Schwinn Voyager

Affordable Pacific Tuscon Mountain Bike dirt bike For Modern Life

This bike was purchased for my son to use at college; getting around an urban campus. The campus has bike lanes, so no real mountain terrain to challenge the bike’s workmanship. However, unlike the ‘easy to assemble’ claim, he had to take the bike to a bike shop to have it assembled. After riding the bike for less than a week, the bike pedal broke off. No, my son does not weight 300lbs. After the company sent a replacement pedal, which had to be taken to to the bike shop again for assembly…..He now has no brakes. After riding the bike for a couple of weeks, pressing the brakes to the max level in order to stop, he’s decided the bike is not worth any more trips to the bike shop or his safety. Unfortunately we have missed the return date, and it is not easy to box up a bike and return it. So, needless to say – this is a learning experience. Some things just should not be purchased on-line.
This really is a great bike for the price. I have had it (or should i say my 12 year old has had it) for 3 months and have had no problems at all. It was a cinch to assemble and adjusts really easily. A little heavy, but it isnt being used for the tour de france!
